Why Laser Dentistry is the Best Solution After an Accident

If you have been in an accident, visit us for laser dentistry solutions.  Any time you damage a tooth in a car wreck, slip, and fall accident, or sports accident, among others, your teeth and gums will already be experiencing trauma.  Minimizing the trauma from subsequent dental work is important and lasers make it possible for us to do so.

If you think that you will never be in an accident, the statistics say otherwise.  Every year, one in three people over the age of 65 are in a slip and fall accident, over 5.4 million car wrecks occur, and more than 5 million children suffer from a sports injury.  These are only some of the types of accidents that occur and teeth are a likely victim.  The key is to know where to look for the care that you need.  We highly recommend that you visit our dentist office after you have injured your tooth, instead of going to the emergency room.  This is important because ER doctors while highly trained, are not trained in how to treat dental problems.  They can prescribe you medication but they cannot address the root cause of the problem or provide you with a dental restoration – we can.

When visiting a dentist, you have multiple options.  It is wise, however, to visit a laser dentistry office because lasers allow us to complete traditional dental procedures in a non-invasive way. Instead of using metal dental tools and a dental drill which is known for producing heat, vibration, and noise, we can use lasers.  This reduces the common causes of dental anxiety while allowing us to target the exact area of the tooth or gums that needs treatment, without irritating any of the surrounding gum tissue.  For example, if we examine your mouth after an accident and find tooth decay, we can treat that decay using lasers, without the use of a dental drill. The procedure is so much more relaxing that most of our patients no longer need pain medication when a laser is used.

Simultaneously, if you need more intensive dental work and restorations, lasers can be used to improve the overall process and speed up your recovery time.  We can use a laser on your soft gum tissue to help stop the bleeding during your procedure.  This reduces the need for gauze after the fact and also helps to prevent or reduce swelling.  As a result, you will feel better faster after your dental restorations.

Improving dental care.

Laser dentistry is changing dental care in multiple ways.  First, we use lasers to help our patients to feel more relaxed and comfortable.  This is done by eliminating the heat, vibration, noise and pressure that is associated with the dental drill. Next, we use lasers to complete procedures in a way that is minimally invasive so that any irritation is reduced if not eliminated.  Both are important after an accident since your body is already in recovery mode.  To learn more about the benefits of lasers, call and schedule an appointment.
